The artist and the model

The Artist and the Model is a 2012 French-language Spanish drama film. The film is about a famous elderly artist, a sculptor, who rediscovers his creative passion through a vibrant young woman.

Having rediscovered his sensual passion as well, the artist retells the story of creation in his own way.

Here is what I gathered from the artist’s version. You may like or dislike it, so read at your own risk.

At first, God created the heavens and the Earth, the stars, the plants, and the animals. And then he thought of creating a being for Himself, a beautiful creature, a perfect one, one to share the world with. A being to keep him company through eternity.

But can you imagine God creating a man? There is no need to make God look like a fool… All this beauty, paradise…

So, He created Eve, a woman.

Eve gave God a child, and He named it Adam.

When Adam became a man, he and Eve made love, and God evicted them from Eden.

But that’s not important.

The important thing is that female beauty is the best proof that God ever existed.

This is The Artist and His Model, a painting by Pablo Picasso on stephenongpin.com.

The Artist and the Model film seems to suggest that true artists play God by creating their own versions of female beauty.
